CoderDojoKU Photo Policy

At CoderDojoKU sessions we will sometimes take photographs, audio clips, and video clips of individuals and groups (“images”).

We would like to use these in our marketing and communications materials, and on our website to celebrate young people’s achievements and promote the dojo.

However, children’s privacy and safety always comes first.

Photography and consent

  • Photos and videos will only be taken by Dojo volunteers during Saturday sessions.

  • For sessions at which photography is going to take place, parents and carers will be informed before the session begins.

  • Families and young people can opt out at any time, and CoderDojoKU will respect this by avoiding photos of those individuals, editing images or removing images already shared, upon request.

Usage

  • Images will be used in a way that is respectful, appropriate and consistent with the aims and principles of CoderDojoKU. We will never sell any images.

  • Photos and videos will be stored with access limited to authorised organisers, and will be kept only for as long as they are needed.

  • Parents and carers are welcome to take photos of their own children but are asked not to share images of other identifiable children online or on social media without the explicit permission of their parents or carers. Children who are opted out wil be issued with a way for our photographer to identify them.

  • You understand that you will not be paid for the use of images.

  • Where images are made available on the internet, although we can cease to use your images, it may still be possible to find them on the internet, and this is beyond our control. Where images have already been used in printed publications, it will not be possible for them to be withdrawn.

Questions or concerns

Any questions, concerns or requests to withdraw consent or remove an image can be raised with a session organiser or by contacting the Coder Dojo KU team via the usual email or website contact details.
